3-Methylbutyrfentanyl

3-Methylbutyrfentanyl3-Methylbutyrfentanyl is an opioid analgesic and analogue of fentanyl. It belongs to the same class of drugs as heroin and morphine and has similar effects to these drugs. However 3-Methylbutyrfentanyl and fentanyl analogues in general are many times more powerful than morphine or even heroin.

It is important here to distinguish between the potency of an opioid drug and its euphoric effects. 3-Methylbutyrfentanyl is many times more potent than the more traditional opioids of abuse such as heroin or oxycontin. This means that a much smaller quantity will provide pain relief, cough suppression, sedation and importantly a much smaller amount will induce total respiratory depression, coma and death.

Bear in mind that just because 3-Methylbutyrfentanyl is more potent that heroin, this does not mean that it produces a much greater high or more intense euphoria. In fact, the euphoric high of fentanyl analogues such as 3-Methylbutyrfentanyl is considered to be lesser in quality to the high of heroin, and more akin to drugs like oxycondon.

The high potency of 3-Methylbutyrfentanyl however, does make it more dangerous for recreational use, especially amongst ill informed, and uneducated drug users.

The former Soviet States, and most notably Estonia, saw a surge in the use of fentanyl analogues around the turn of the century. This lead to an epidemic of drug related fatalities. Drug users find it hard to handle to the extreme potency of drugs like 3-Methylbutyrfentanyl and in fact this potency makes them unsuitable as recreational compounds.

More recently, fentanyl and its analogues have become an increasing problem in the USA. Mexican drug gangs are reported to import these drugs from clandestine labs in China and use them to add a powerful hit to their poor quality heroin. Fentanyl analogues add a heavy sedating quality to the street heroin, and many users may be fooled in to thinking they have obtained quality heroin. Either way, the product serves its purpose for many of the users, providing annihilation from ordinary perception and frame of mind. The problem with this is that many of the gangs who spike the heroin are not aware of the power of fentanyl and its analogues to kill. Fentanyl analogues are so dangerous that they have been used by Russian Spetnaz as an anti-terrorist agent.

In the Russian hostage crisis of 2002, an undisclosed gas was used to pacify the terrorists. It was so powerful however, that it also killed 170 of the 1000 hostages in the theatre that night. British laboratories were able to use a sample of urine of one UK citizen that had been a hostage. The lethal suppressing agents that the Russians had used turned out to be the fentanyl analogues carfentanil and remifentanil.

3-Methylbutyrfentanyl has been sold as a designer drug.

Unverifiable user reports indicate that it has many of the same effects as other fentanyl analogues. Side effects include itching, nausea, constipation, loss of apetite, lowered libido and of course heavy respiratory depression relative to the euphoria.

3-Methylbutyrfentanyl is known to be highly psychologically and physically addictive.
